The U.S. government is making intense efforts to armistice Lebanon between and , but the State representative Department has clarified that no agreement has yet been reached. The clarification was made by Matthew Miller during the established press representatives’ briefing, on the occasion of information to lift the deadlock in negotiations between Hezbollah and Israel. According to well-informed sources from Beirut, US and French presidents are expected to announce within 36 hours an agreement on a truce in Lebanon between Hezbollah and Israel. “We don’t think we have a deal yet. We think we’re close to a deal. We believe that we have bridged the differences considerably, but there are still steps to be found that have been made. We hope we can get there,” State Department spokesman said. The US is pushing for an agreement between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah – a movement supported by Iran – to end the conflicts that broke out in October 2023 alongside the war against Palestinian Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Conflicts in Lebanon have escalated significantly over the past two months. The indications of an impending truce agreement were accompanied by a heavy wave of Israeli air raids in areas of Lebanon considered strongholds of Hezbollah. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office refused to comment on the reports on an agreement on a truce plan. However, a leading Israeli official told Reuters news agency that this plan would be considered at a cabinet meeting Tuesday.
