St. Francis Gerasimos: “Excellent blessing that will participate in the Great Meeting”

Holy and Great Synod of the Orthodox Church which, as you know, next month in Crete, under the presidency of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

And he continued: “it is very important thing that all the Orthodox christians will be together as brothers, we will sit at the same table to discuss συνοδικώς and pray to do this with the help of the Holy Spirit and the operation of the grace of the Lord.”
To the question if I could on the topics to have been included and issues that concern today’s man of the 21st century, Metropolitan, mr G. he said: “I think that there are such as for instance the theme of the wedding which is a matter of crucial, very modern and it belongs in the urgent matters which will have to solve our Church”.
The Eminence Gerasimos stressed that “just the fact that all around the world Orthodox Churches will meet on the same, this one is great and essential matter”. The question what is the peculiarity of the Church of California and the West Coast of the United States in general, he replied: “people have more freedom of opinion with regard to the Church and our institutions” and explained that “it’s not promiscuous, but that they express their opinion freely”.
He added that great efforts are being made and the Greek Orthodox Faith decanted and the world outside of the Greek community, that are attracted to our Faith”.
The question of how it goes Hellenism, the hellenism there,replied: “we strive as much as we can, but it depends on what we mean Greekness. With the meaning told by the consul general mrs Καναρά in speech, not as Ελλαδισμό, but as the historical flesh of Orthodoxy, and I have to say that in this sense is florid, and it becomes even more florid over time”.
From the point of view of Greek Schools said that “there is only Daily Greek School in the community of St. Nicholas in Northridge, California,” and stressed that “all the communities have their own Greek afternoon Schools”.

The Eminence Gerasimos is a graduate of both Hellenic College and of the Theological college of the Holy Cross.
When we asked him how it feels that is these days in the Seminary, he said: “the School’s nurse School. I grew up here and every time I go is like going on a pilgrimage to my mother”.
The Eminence Gerasimos Μιχαλέας was born on August 2, 1945 in Kalamata, greece, where he learned the first letters and then studied at the Greek college and the Theological college of the Holy Cross as has already been said above. After graduating he worked as a Registrar of the School.
In 1979 he was ordained a Deacon and served the late Archbishop Iakovos for 17 years until 1996. At the same time, he worked as Director of Student Life of the School.
From 1988 until 1999, he served as the Director of the Department of records and Archives of the Greek College and the Theological School. In 1993 he was nominated doctor from the Boston College School and Counselling Psychology.
He taught for a number of years at Hellenic College and also for ten years he was a lecturer at the Northeastern University of Boston.
At the same time, was appointed to the Department of Psychology of Management of the Medical Centre of Veterans of Warriors known as the VA Medical Center in Boston.
On 11 November he was elected by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate-assistant Bishop with the title Κρατείας and was appointed chief Secretary of the Holy Provincial Synod of the Archdiocese of America.
On 22 February 2005, he was elected Metropolitan of St. Francis. And was enthroned in the Cathedral of the Ascension of the Lord on 2 April by Archbishop Elder of America mr Demetrios.
