A video circulating online captures the step-by-step removal of a snake that had taken refuge in a backyard in Sparta. The emergency call reached the local fire department around noon on Wednesday (04.06.25) when residents near Lakkas spotted the snake, measuring over a meter in length. Immediately, authorities were contacted, and a firefighter was dispatched to handle the situation. With calmness and appropriate equipment, as reported by flynews, the firefighter successfully captured the snake and relocated it to a safe natural environment, far from populated areas. Reports indicate that the snake is a harmless and non-venomous species known as a ratsnake, commonly found in southern Greece. This species plays a crucial role in the ecosystem by feeding on pests.
