Spain: Pedro Sanchez reshuffles government!

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has named a new foreign minister but has retained his post as finance minister following a government reshuffle.

Jose Manuel Albares has been named the new foreign minister, while Isabelle Rodriguez will be the new government spokeswoman and minister of territorial policy and public administration.

Nadia Calvino retained the portfolio of the Ministry of Finance and was promoted to first Deputy Prime Minister.

Another important departure is that of Sanchez’s chief of staff, Ivan Redondo, who was considered the prime minister’s right-hand man and responsible for his electoral success.

He will be replaced by Oscar Lopez, a member of the Socialist Party.

The five members of Unidas Podemos, the minority partner in the coalition government, retain their positions.
