In Spain, a shocking case has emerged where a mother sold her newborn baby for €2,000 to a couple struggling with fertility issues. According to the police report released on April 25, 2025, the 37-year-old mother was arrested in March in Mostoles, a suburb of Madrid. The couple who purchased the baby, along with two of their relatives, were also arrested in Cordoba, southern Spain. Initial investigations revealed that the mother sold her newborn for €2,000 but later regretted the decision and attempted to take the baby back. However, the couple refused, as the mother failed to return the money or cover an additional €1,000 spent on her month-long stay in Cordoba. The biological mother had traveled to the city where the buyers resided to give birth. The investigation began when the mother, who already had six children whose custody was revoked in 2022 due to neglect, filed a complaint alleging that a family in Cordoba had ‘abducted’ her baby. The infant is now under the care of a child protection center in Cordoba.
