The “black boxes”, the flight data recorder and the pilot’s surveyor of Jeju Air’s plane crashed on December 29 stopped recording four minutes before it at Muan Airport, announced today, Saturday (11.01. 25) the Ministry of Transport. Authorities investigating the tragedy left behind by 179 dead, in the worst air crash in South Korea’s History, are now attempting to analyze what caused the “black boxes” to be discontinued, the ministry said in a statement. However, when data was found missing it was sent to a laboratory of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board. The damaged flight data recorder was transferred to the United States for analysis in collaboration with the US security regulator, the ministry said. Juju Air’s flight plane, which was running a route from Bangkok to South Korea, landed with the “belly” and after being dragged for tens of meters into the runway ended up on a concrete wall, where an explosion followed. From the 179 plane crash of the total 181 passengers died. Pilots told air traffic control that the aircraft had been attacked by a bird and declared an emergency about four minutes before it fell into the mound and exploded into flames. Two injured crew members, sitting in the tail section, were rescued.
