A brutal stabbing incident occurred in South Korea, spreading fear and panic. An 18-year-old stabbed three people inside a high school located in the central part of South Korea and injured two others less severely on April 28th morning. The police were alerted that ‘a student had stabbed someone inside a classroom,’ according to a press release issued by the Chongbuk police department. The attack happened at 08:36 local time (02:36 Greek time) in the city of Changju, 110 kilometers south of Seoul. Three individuals sustained severe injuries, including the high school principal who suffered wounds to the abdomen. Another two people were more lightly injured, including a woman who attempted to restrain the young man. The suspect, who was slightly injured himself, was arrested 12 minutes after the police were notified. He tried to escape by heading toward a nearby park where he jumped into a lake before being apprehended and transported to a hospital. Authorities are still trying to determine the details and motive behind the attack, according to an official speaking to the French Press Agency. This bloody incident comes just months after a teacher stabbed an eight-year-old student to death in an elementary school. Despite this, South Korea is generally considered one of the safest countries, with a homicide rate of only 1.3 per 100,000 residents in 2021, significantly lower than the global average of 6/100,000.
