Actress Sophia Zanninou speaks out following the shocking theft of €200,000 worth of valuables from her home. She expresses her disbelief and frustration, believing that the intruders managed to cover their tracks effectively. Despite cameras capturing their faces and movements, investigations have yet to yield results. In an interview with journalist Andrea Theodorou for the magazine ‘Loipon,’ Zanninou admitted to making mistakes that day by leaving her guard down. She emphasized the need for increased police staffing to address security concerns in the area. This high-profile burglary involved the theft of precious heirlooms belonging to her father, including cufflinks, watches, rings, and a cross from her mother. Notable gifts from famous personalities were also stolen. Zanninou described the shock of discovering four individuals had ransacked her home while she was away briefly. Despite having a trained guard dog, circumstances allowed the thieves to escape unnoticed. She highlighted how these criminals systematically targeted homes in areas like Erythraia, Kifissia, and Agios Stefanos. Criticizing current laws, Zanninou pointed out the legal distinctions between burglary and theft, arguing they favor offenders. She urged authorities, particularly Minister Christos Hryssohoidis, to reform legislation to deter such crimes.
