As of Thursday, May 15, 2025, the application platform for Social Tourism has closed. Results are expected shortly, as this year’s program begins earlier than ever on June 1, 2025. Specifically, results will be announced within days as verification processes are in full swing. Despite technical issues, interest surged to record levels with 567,462 applications submitted for 1,015,077 vouchers. The program, starting June 1, includes 300,000 vouchers with a budget of €50 million. Each beneficiary receives a unique voucher code allowing up to six nights at selected accommodations with minimal personal contribution. In certain areas like Leros, Lesbos, Chios, Kos, Samos, and Rhodes, up to 10 nights are free, while in parts of Evia, Evros, and Thessaly, up to 12 nights are fully covered. Eligible participants include private-sector employees insured with eEOPYA since January 1, 2024, or unemployed individuals with continuous unemployment for at least three months by the deadline. For August, Christmas, and Easter periods, subsidy rates increase by 20%. This also applies throughout 2025 for disaster-hit regions (Northern Evia, Evros, and Thessaly). The program also covers ferry tickets with a 25% contribution from beneficiaries, while disabled individuals receive free tickets. Special provisions exist for single-parent families, disabled individuals, and those with lower incomes.
