Smart TV disabled with Android malware

Any device that bears the title “smart” may be the target of hackers, so…
we should not be surprised with news like that revealed by the website Android Police. The story concerns the installation of Android malware to LG Smart TV of a user in the united states, which is essentially the disabled.
Darren Cauthon notified on Twitter a photo of the Smart TV relative, which was infected by ransomware and hackers ask for $500 to unlock (evident and the fake alert from the FBI). It also states that it asked the LG to guide them so as to restore it to the factory settings (factory reset), but the company refused and instead suggested to them to move to a technician for repair with a cost of $340. As noted by the Cauthon, with this cost I guess it’s better to buy a new tv.
Imagine what has to be done in the next few years with all the IoT devices…
