Small solar investors are finding themselves in a difficult position as production cuts and zero pricing severely limit their income. According to reports, the increasing frequency of zero or negative prices in the market means that producers are not compensated during those hours. Some producers even prefer to shut down their parks voluntarily, regardless of any directive from the grid operator. Furthermore, mandatory cuts imposed by ADMΗE and ΔΕΔΔΗE benefit the network, but critics argue that network operators should bear the associated costs and provide compensation. These conditions represent a distortion for small solar owners, prompting them to take organized collective action to claim their rights. The first step will take place on June 5th in Larissa, where the newly formed Greek Photovoltaic Union (SY.FO.EL) invites producers with projects up to 500 kW from across the country to participate. The SY.FO.EL aims to actively ensure the sustainability of investments and promote a fair and stable energy framework through documented arguments, institutional claims, and continuous pressure on relevant authorities. A second meeting is scheduled by the HELIOS association on June 13th in Lamia for owners of projects ranging from 100 to 1000 kW. According to an announcement, potential legal avenues for compensation and market changes will be discussed in detail. On June 14th, producers from Thessaloniki, Chalkidiki, and Kilkis will join an emergency General Assembly under the umbrella of the Panhellenic Federation of Photovoltaic Energy Producer Associations (POSPEF). Notably, a first meeting has already been held by farmers with photovoltaic installations, who protest against cuts even in very small 50 kW projects under the ‘Photovoltaics in the Field’ program.
