Singapore: Teen Arrested for Plot to Kill ‘At Least 100 Muslims’

A chilling case emerged today (April 2, 2025) from Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs, revealing the arrest of a teenager who planned to kill ‘at least 100 Muslims.’ The youth, arrested in March, stated he had identified five mosques in Singapore as targets during Friday prayers, inspired by the Christchurch attack in New Zealand. He was reportedly inspired by Brenton Tarrant, who killed 59 people in 2019, referring to him as a ‘hero.’ The teenager aimed to surpass Tarrant’s death toll and intended to livestream the attacks, according to Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam. In a country with some of the world’s strictest gun control laws, the suspect had already made several attempts to acquire a firearm. The teenager had also been in contact with another suspect, 18-year-old Nik Li, arrested in December 2024 on similar charges. Minister Shanmugam emphasized that radicalization is not limited to one ideology, highlighting the case of a 15-year-old girl placed under judicial supervision in February after pledging allegiance to an ISIS chatbot and attempting to travel to Syria.
