A horrifying incident unfolded on June 29, 2026, in southern Ottawa, Canada, when a dentist allegedly murdered his two young sons—aged 7 and 12—at their family home, then set fire to his dental practice before dying in a vehicle blaze.

According to the Ottawa Police Service, the 40-year-old suspect, Dr. Mohammed Al-Lami, used a Molotov cocktail to ignite his clinic before driving away and self-immolating. Authorities discovered a multi-page handwritten note at his office in which he launched a fierce critique of his ex-wife, Canada’s criminal justice system, and family courts. In the note, he named three individuals he considered corrupt—prompting immediate protective action by law enforcement.

Al-Lami had previously been convicted in 2024 for threatening bodily harm against his ex-wife—the mother of the two slain boys—a charge stemming from a domestic dispute following their 2022 separation. During a brief February 2026 court hearing, he represented himself and rejected a judge’s offer to resolve the case through a one-year good-behavior undertaking.

His ex-wife—who has not been publicly identified—testified in court that the couple had married, had two children, and separated in 2022. She also revealed that after the split, Al-Lami stopped paying child support and sent her a deeply disturbing email in 2024 containing explicit threats.

‘I will kill everyone around you—and your boyfriend—with an extremely savage and barbaric method,’ the email read. ‘I won’t kill you. I’ll leave you alone, disabled in a wheelchair, unable to move—even to visit the graves of your loved ones.’ He added: ‘I’ll make you an example of this unjust judicial system. I’ll make you a global news story. When you harm me, you pay—whether through child support or whatever I deem appropriate in response to your actions… until I finish it my way, for you and your “pig.”’

The case has raised urgent questions across Canada about whether warning signs—including past threats, a criminal conviction, and documented grievances—could have led to earlier intervention to prevent the tragedy.
