A 65-year-old man has been arrested in Phthiotis, central Greece, after allegedly committing a sexual assault against a 12-year-old boy in the Lokrida area. The arrest was carried out under a warrant issued by the Investigating Judge of Lamia.
Details of the Incident
The alleged crime occurred earlier this month. According to reports, the suspect — who reportedly knew the child — approached the boy and persuaded him to get into his car under the pretense of taking him home safely. Instead, he drove the boy to a remote, isolated location where he allegedly committed acts of sexual abuse.
Local media outlet LamiaReport indicated that judicial authorities have gathered substantial evidence pointing to the suspect’s conduct. Investigators believe the man had previously been seen loitering near areas where the boy regularly played with friends.
Judicial Proceedings
The suspect appeared before the Investigating Judge of Lamia on Friday, 26 June 2026, marking the formal start of judicial proceedings. He requested and was granted an extension to prepare his statement, and is scheduled to give his official testimony on Monday, 29 June.
