Details emerging from the case of an 82-year-old retired doctor arrested for child pornography in Rio, Achaea, have sent shockwaves across Greece. Authorities discovered thousands of files—including photographs and videos—depicting child pornography at his home in Rio. Among them were images of minors under the age of 12.
Grandchildren Among Victims
Most disturbingly, investigators identified photos and videos taken by the suspect himself, showing underage children in nude and semi-nude poses. Forensic analysis confirmed that several of the children depicted are his own grandchildren.
Arrest and Evidence Seized
The arrest took place on the morning of Friday, 6 March 2026, carried out by officers from the Cybercrime Unit of the Hellenic Police, assisted by detectives from the Patras Sub-Directorate for Crime Investigation and Prosecution. A judicial officer was present during the operation.
During the search, authorities seized a mobile phone, an external hard drive, and two internal computer hard drives. All digital material has been transferred to the Hellenic Police’s Electronic Crime Unit for forensic examination.
