When they returned, Dickson “put gasoline on Rebecca before setting the fire”, notes in detail the report, which adds that the man was also burned by the flames. The 33-year-old athlete, who was saved by neighbors, and her partner was initially treated with “multiple burns” in the nearest hospital, in the town of Kitale, before being transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldorette, a large city in the Rift Valley. “At the point of the tragedy a 5-litre box, a bag and a black hat allegedly belonged to Dickson and a burnt cell phone belonging to Rebecca were found”, the police report clarified.
