Until noon on Wednesday, Crete and the Dodecanese islands will be at the epicenter of severe storms, bringing weather conditions that bear no resemblance to early spring. The adverse weather began to show its teeth late Monday night, causing difficult hours with intense downpours flooding roads. Today, Crete and the Dodecanese are expected to receive significant rainfall, prompting national emergency services to remain on high alert for potential flooding. Meteorologist Thodoris Kolidas noted in a post that strong rains and storms, accompanied by temporary strong winds and localized hail, would affect the Dodecanese until noon on Wednesday and Crete, particularly western and southern areas, including Gavdos, until the morning hours of Wednesday. According to Meteo forecasts, localized heavy rains and storms are expected today, with hail possible in eastern and southern areas. Winds will reach up to 6 Beaufort in the seas. More specifically, local rains and sporadic storms will initially occur in eastern and southern regions, which will be locally strong in Crete and the Dodecanese. The rest of the country is forecasted to see cloudy skies with local rains and isolated storms during the afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures will range from 5 to 14 degrees Celsius in Western Macedonia, 9 to 18 degrees in the rest of Macedonia, Thrace, and Epirus, 8 to 18 degrees in Thessaly, 8 to 19 degrees in other mainland areas, 11 to 17 degrees in Ionian and Aegean islands, and 12 to 19 degrees in Crete and the Dodecanese. Winds will blow from northern directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort and from southwestern directions at 4 to 6 Beaufort in the south. In Attica, cloudy skies with local rains are expected in the afternoon and evening with isolated storms. Northern winds at 2 to 4 Beaufort will prevail, with temperatures ranging from 10 to 18 degrees Celsius. Thessaloniki will experience cloudy skies with local rains and isolated storms mainly during the afternoon and evening. Northwest winds turning gradually southeast at 2 to 4 Beaufort are expected, with temperatures ranging from 10 to 16 degrees Celsius.
