Seven Large Dogs Abandoned in Pangrati Park on World Stray Animals Day

Chaos erupted early Saturday morning (5/4/25) at Pangrati Park when seven large dogs were found abandoned, wandering fearfully. Local animal lovers struggled to approach them. “We are all gathered here with our pets. Ironically, on World Stray Animals Day (April 4), someone left these seven large dogs in the park,” said George Amiranashvili, a local resident. The dogs, described as half-breed Rottweilers, are extremely frightened and could become aggressive if approached by untrained individuals. Residents have contacted the Athens Municipality, Attica Region, animal welfare organizations, and the Greek Police. Authorities, working with law enforcement, decided to close the park until the dogs can be safely removed.
