A serious road accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon (22 July 2026) in Chania, on the island of Crete. The crash took place in Pontikiana, a village within the Platanias municipality.
Two Trapped After Vehicle Loses Control
According to initial reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle under circumstances still under investigation, causing it to veer off the road and collide with an olive tree. As a result, both the driver and passenger became trapped inside the car.
Emergency Response Deployed
Two fire department vehicles with nine personnel responded to the scene to carry out the extrication. Emergency medical services were also dispatched.
Reports indicate the female passenger sustained injuries and was transported by EKAB ambulance to the Chania General Hospital for treatment. No further details on the condition of either person have been released.
