A serious traffic accident occurred on Friday morning (04.07.2025) in Voula, where two public transport buses operated by OASA collided. The incident took place along the coastal road heading towards Sounio, near the Asclepeion of Voula, under unclear circumstances. Initial reports indicate that 32 passengers were injured, including six children. Three of the injured are in serious condition but are not in life-threatening danger.
Many of the passengers were children who had boarded the buses to enjoy a swim at the beach. According to newsit.gr, the collision occurred when one bus rear-ended another that was stopped. Witnesses quoted the driver as saying, ‘I felt dizzy and crashed into the vehicle.’
Adult victims were transported to the Asclepeion Hospital in Voula, while the children were taken to ‘Pediatriko’ hospital. Preliminary assessments suggest the children sustained minor injuries. Emergency services responded swiftly, with eight ambulances, three mobile medical units, and two rapid response motorcycles dispatched to the scene within five minutes.
One bus driver described the moment of impact on SKAI’s ‘Live You’ show: ‘I was pulling away from the stop when I was hit. I heard the crash.’ Traffic police arrived at the location to document the event and begin an investigation into the cause of the collision. Heavy delays have been reported on Konstantinou Karamanli Avenue, near First Beach in Voula.
