The owner of a Luna Park in Almyros and the operator of an amusement ride were found guilty today (July 2, 2025) by the Mixed Ordeal Court of Karditsa for the death of 14-year-old Serafina in August 2019. The teenager was fatally ejected from a ride known as the ‘flying carpet.’

The court ruled unanimously that the female park owner was responsible for the offense of ‘culpable endangerment of a minor and conscious negligence leading to the fatal outcome.’ She was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment with house arrest execution, with her appeal having suspensive effect despite the prosecutor’s opposing view on suspension.

The 36-year-old ride operator, originally from Bangladesh, was also found guilty by majority decision for his role in the incident. He received a four-year sentence, with the same suspensive effect for appeal.

According to ERT, Serafina’s mother left the courtroom in tears while her father appeared visibly upset, declining to make any statements. Meanwhile, voices from one side claimed that the facts presented during the trial did not accurately reflect what truly happened.
