Campaigners are trying to save one of the greatest engineering feats of the Ancient Greeks…the forerunner of the railway. They accuse Greece’s Ministry of Culture of rejecting financial help from would be sponsors which could prevent further erosion of a stone passageway used for pulling ships across a narrow strip of land close to the Corinth Canal. The Ancient Greeks used the stone railroad to avoid sailing around the south of the country.
