For September the trial was postponed before the Mixed Orcot Court, the murder case of the former minister in an Eretria sea area in January 2021 with two fishermen accused. This is its third postponement of the death of the historic PASOK executive. The trial for the murder of Sifi Valyrakis was postponed for 22 September 2025 at the request of the two fishermen facing manslaughter with intent jointly in a calm mental state. CORVERSE According to the case-file, on 24 January 202 1 there was an argument between the victim who had come out with his inflatable boat for a spear gun and the two defendants on their fishing grounds. Fishermen seem to have escalated the tension, blocking the course of the former minister’s ship. The indictment states that “acting dangerous maneuvers with your fishing around the inflatable vessel, you quarreled with him and then, using a wooden pole, you struck him at the top of his body at least 2-3 times, resulting in him falling without his will to the sea.” They are also charged that “in order to cover up their act, once they realized that Sifis Valyrakis fell into the sea hitting the propeller of the on-board vessels, they were removed from the point, leaving him helpless and without providing any information, although they well knew that the victim was being sought by the port authorities, thus preventing any timely rescue action.” The case-file contains dozens of elements, critical deposits, camera and satellite material, reports and others, on the basis of which the judges of the Council of Chalkidas who issued, with a similar prosecutor’s proposal, the referral decree concluded that the two defendants ” acted by converging acts and joint action, knowing each other’s actions, which resulted in the elimination of Joseph Valyrakis, one with the impact of strikes against him, and the other with his handling of the fishing vessel with circular and circular movements around the victim’s vessel, in order to create wandering and idleness, to lose his balance and to fall into the sea, both accepting the foreseeable result of their behavior.’
