As announces the “Association for the Revival of the ÎÎμεων Games”, the aim of the new organization is “to give everyone the chance to participate in games that will revive the Olympic Spirit. What we are doing is reviving authentic ancient athletic customs in the ancient stadium of Nemea”.
The runners are dressed in tunics and γυμνόποδες and in this way have physical contact with the same stones where ancient athletes ran 2.300 years ago.
Athletes run on the ancient track for a distance of 90 meters. In addition, a route of 7.5 km. it starts in the Temple of Hercules in Ancient Κλεώνες, passes through ÎεμεατικοÏÏ‚ vineyards and the village of Κλεώνων and ends at the stadium of Nemea, following the path he had taken Hercules to chase the lion.
