In a shocking incident, scammers posing as utility technicians managed to deceive an 88-year-old woman and her 92-year-old husband, stealing €22,000. The criminals used the tactic of distraction while pretending to check the electricity meter. This disturbing act was documented in a video showing how they gained access to the elderly couple’s home and made off with their life savings. Around 1 PM, the elderly woman exited her apartment building, followed closely by the imposters who had been surveilling her movements. They requested entry under the guise of checking the electrical panel. One of the men entered the house while another climbed the stairs, both keeping the victim occupied. Meanwhile, two other accomplices infiltrated the home stealthily, wearing surgical masks and gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints. The police eventually identified and arrested the culprits. The elderly victim recounted how she thought they were there to fix the power supply but instead lost all her savings meant for her husband’s medical expenses. Authorities warn that the elderly are often targeted by such scams and urge family members to inform seniors about these deceptive tactics.
