The Dutch tourist who fell from a great height in the Samaria Gorge appears to have suffered head injuries and bruises all over his body. According to recent updates from cretapost, rescuers began moving him to a safe location. Initially, plans were made to airlift the injured man to Chania Hospital by helicopter; however, the aircraft could not approach the site. As a result, rescuers transported the tourist to Kylodromo, where an ambulance waited to take him to the hospital. By 10 PM on April 21, 2025, the rescue operation was ongoing, with estimates suggesting the tourist would reach the hospital within the next few hours. Vital assistance came from hikers who discovered him. Reports indicate that the Dutch tourist was on the trail leading to Gigilos when he suddenly fell from a great height. A group of Greek hikers found the unfortunate man and alerted authorities by calling 112. Following instructions from EKAB rescuers, the Greek group administered first aid to the injured tourist. Simultaneously, members of EMAK, the fire department, and EMODE reached the scene and successfully extricated him.
