Sabotage on German Corvette: Greek Man, Vandalism, and Suspicions of Russian Involvement

A 54-year-old Greek man from Rodopi and a 37-year-old Romanian have been arrested for allegedly attempting sabotage on a German Navy corvette at the Hamburg shipyard. According to prosecutorial findings, they reportedly dumped over 20 kg of abrasive gravel into the ship’s engine, punctured freshwater supply lines, removed fuel tank caps, and disabled safety systems. The sabotage was discovered during pre-departure inspections of the corvette ‘Emden’. Digital evidence—including computers and mobile phones—was seized from the Greek suspect’s home in Pomakochoria. The investigation, coordinated by Eurojust, involves Greek, German, and Romanian authorities.
