Ryanair is launching lawsuits against the UK

Irish airline Ryanair is launching lawsuits against Britain over its “traffic light” system for international travel, hoping to impose a relaxation of strict rules threatening summer vacations.

The airline has partnered with the Manchester Airports Group (MAG) and the couple plans to submit documents to the UK Supreme Court on Thursday to seek clarity on the transparency of the system, a MAG spokesman said.

According to information, other airlines are expected to participate in the legal process.

With just a few weeks before July and August, when most profits are made, the airline industry is worried about losing another summer due to COVID-19, as the British government is blocking most travel, which means more job losses and financial pressure.

Britain has allowed holidays again since May after months of lockdowns, but discourages travel to popular holiday destinations such as Spain, France, Greece and the United States, as the areas are “orange” under the traffic light system.
