Ryanair flight diversion after GPS interference – The plane could not land

A new incident comes to me to add to the list of incidents recorded in recent days, in the wake of the most tragic South Korea air crash at Muan Airport. A Ryanair flight from Riga to Vienna was diverted to nearby Brno, Czech Republic, late Monday night (30.12. 24), after two failed attempts to land the plane due to interference on the GPS, according to Bloomberg agency citing Die Presse. CORVERSE The aircraft’s navigation systems faced GPS interference over Poland and did not return until arrival in the Austrian capital, Die Presse said, citing the pilot’s statement. The flight was then diverted to Brno, where visibility was better. Northern Europe has seen an outbreak of GPS interference since 2022, for which officials have widely blamed Russia.
