Ukraine launched a large-scale drone attack on Russia overnight on July 6, 2026, targeting military infrastructure—including two defense-related industrial facilities in the western Bryansk region, according to Ukrainian military sources and Russian official statements.

Strikes on Defense and Chemical Facilities

One of the struck facilities is operated by Kremniy EL Group, a Bryansk-based microelectronics conglomerate that manufactures components for Russian electronic warfare systems. The other facility is a chemical plant producing rocket fuel additives and explosives, Russian military officials confirmed in a Telegram post.

Widespread Drone Assault Across Russia

Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported that Ukrainian forces deployed hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during the operation. According to the ministry, 430 drones were intercepted over 17 Russian regions. Damage was reported in several areas, including Belgorod Oblast—adjacent to Ukraine—and the industrial zone of Kaluga Oblast, southwest of Moscow.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated earlier on Telegram that more than 430 drones were directed toward the capital. Most were shot down before reaching the city; 36 were destroyed in the immediate vicinity of Moscow.

If verified, this would mark the largest Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow in terms of sheer numbers over the past two years, according to Germany’s dpa news agency—which noted it could not independently confirm the figures.
