Russia responds to Trump about Greenland: “We have national strategic interests in the Arctic”

Asked about Trump’s comments on the Panama Canal, which the US built before delivering to Panama in 1999, the Kremlin replied that it heard them, but that it is a matter of the US and Panama. What the US embassy said in Denmark earlier today, the US embassy in Copenhagen said the US currently has no plans to increase their military presence in Greenland. “There are no plans to increase this military footprint in Greenland. We will continue to work closely with Copenhagen and Nuk (S.T.S.: the capital of Greenland) to ensure that any proposals meet our common security needs,” the embassy representative told Reuters. Greenland is crucial to the U.S. military and the early warning system of ballistic missiles as the shortest route from Europe to North America passes through the island.
