Russia launched over 2,000 attacks with military targets and civilian property throughout October. This was announced today (01/11/2024) by the Armed Forces in Ukraine, and they also made known that Kiev was attacked with 20 drones in October by Russia. The general staff of the Ukrainian forces explains in an announcement that it intercepted 1,185 of the 2,023 drones launched last month and that 738 others were “missed”. “In total since early 2024, the enemy has unleashed 6,987 offensive drones on the territory of Ukraine. The enemy drones were mainly targeted at civilian and critical infrastructure,” he adds. Ukraine today announced that it shot down 31 drones and a rocket during a Russian attack at night, from which residential buildings were damaged in at least two districts and a fire station in the Odessa area, in its southern part. Russia denies targeting civilians and states that energy installations are legitimate targets when part of Ukrainian military infrastructure. Ukraine is preparing for another winter with power outages amid threats to new Russian attacks on its energy system, which has already been weakened by a series of injuries earlier this year.
