Russia and Ukraine Complete Exchange of 307 War Prisoners – Zelenskyy’s Post

Russia and Ukraine have completed the exchange of 307 war prisoners today (May 24, 2025), as part of the agreement reached between Kyiv and Moscow during the peace talks in Istanbul on May 15-16, 2025. Soldiers from both Russia and Ukraine have returned to their respective countries, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy making a related post on social media. Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense also announced the release of 307 Russian soldiers. This prisoner exchange, the largest since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, is part of an agreement facilitated by Donald Trump. The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated yesterday that Moscow will be ready to present Ukraine with a plan containing Russian terms for a peace agreement once the mutual release of prisoners is completed. Meanwhile, the prisoner release process from the Russian side was accompanied by an overnight bombing of Kyiv with long-range drones and ballistic missiles, injuring 15 people.
