Russia: 4 teenagers planning a terrorist attack in Yekaterinburg Arrested · Global Voices

The arrest of four teenagers was progressed by its authorities, as according to the FSB the four were planning a large bomb in the city of Yekaterinburg. According to the state news agency RIA, Russia’s FSB claims to have arrested the 4 teenagers as suspected of a terrorist attack, while confiscating parts of improvised mechanisms. Researchers in the district of Sverdlovsk launched a criminal investigation notes FSB. “The Federal Security Agency of the Russian Federation arrested four Russian citizens, born in 2007 and 2008, who share the ideas of a terrorist organization banned in Russia and planned to commit a terrorist attack using an improvised explosive device in places where a large number of civilians are gathered” the FSB points out in the same announcement. Two of the four teenagers are also reported to be involved in the arson of a Russian official’s car. Interfax news agency broadcast that arson occurred on 22 December 2024. It is unclear which “terrorist organisation” the Russian authorities refer to.
