Ukrainian armed forces have intensified cross-border drone raids into Russia in recent days. On the night of Sunday, July 12, 2026, a wave of drone attacks struck several locations in the Moscow region, killing three people and injuring five others, according to Moscow regional governor Andrey Vorobyov, who announced the casualties in a Telegram post.

Casualties and Damage Reported

Vorobyov stated that in the village of Pionersky, near Istra, three people were killed and three others wounded after a drone crashed there. In Solnechnogorsk, two more people were injured when a drone struck a residential apartment building.

The governor added that Russian air defenses shot down 81 unmanned aerial vehicles during the overnight operation.

Industrial Fire in Stavropol Krai

Elsewhere, a separate Ukrainian drone strike near Stavropol — in southwestern Russia — triggered a fire at an industrial zone in the village of Viazhniki, within the Spakovskiy district, according to Stavropol Krai governor Vladimir Vladimirov. He described the incident as an ‘enemy drone attack’ that was repelled, and confirmed no casualties had been reported so far.

Additional reports, including from open-source intelligence accounts, indicated a major fire broke out at a fuel depot in Mikhaylovsk — also in Stavropol Krai — following the drone strike.

Drone Interceptions Over Moscow

In Moscow itself, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported the interception of 19 Ukrainian drones heading toward the capital. He posted three updates on Telegram between 11:28 p.m. and 3:19 a.m., confirming the successful downing of the devices.
