A 17-year-old teenager was pulled unconscious from the Arogi beach in Rhodope early Sunday morning (28.06.2026), according to Greek public broadcaster ERT.
The young man had been swimming at Arogi — a popular coastal area in the northeastern Greek regional unit of Rhodope — when he suddenly lost consciousness under circumstances still unknown. A lifeguard on duty managed to restore his pulse before emergency medical services arrived.
An EKAB ambulance transported him to the Sismanogleio General Hospital in Komotini, where he remains intubated and under intensive care. His condition has reportedly stabilized but remains critical. He is expected to be transferred later the same day to the University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis for further treatment.
