An unimaginable tragedy has shocked Rhodes as a 3.5-year-old child lost their life yesterday (June 15, 2025) after drowning in a pool located in Ialysos. The tragic incident occurred when the little girl was playing in a pool at a business establishment under her grandmother’s supervision. Despite being part of a hygiene-regulated facility, there was no lifeguard present. The owner of the business was arrested for the child’s drowning but was later released on bail following an oral order from the prosecutor. Panic ensued when people realized the child had fallen into the pool. Several individuals immediately jumped in to help, but the child was pulled out unconscious and unresponsive. An EKAB ambulance arrived promptly, and rescuers began immediate resuscitation efforts. The child was rushed to the hospital in Rhodes, where medical staff were fully prepared, but unfortunately, they were unable to save her life.
