A 17-year-old girl endured a harrowing night in Archangelos, Rhodes, after allegedly being violently assaulted by her 23-year-old boyfriend. According to the forensic medical report, she sustained 10 distinct injuries across her face, head, and body.
Brutal Assault Lasting Hours
The incident occurred between 3:30 a.m. and approximately 9:00 a.m. on June 20–21, 2026. The teenager told police that her boyfriend punched and slapped her repeatedly — striking her face, head, and torso — and at one point slammed her head against a wall. When asked whether the episode involved verbal arguments, she responded plainly: “He was hitting me. There’s no ‘argument’ with words.”
Escalation and Threats
Earlier that evening, the couple had gone out with friends to a local establishment. According to the victim’s statement, the suspect became enraged by jealousy and struck her outside the venue — prompting intervention by bystanders. One patron reportedly confronted him physically, further inflaming his anger.
Back at the residence — a home belonging to a relative in Archangelos — the situation deteriorated. At one point, the suspect retrieved a kitchen knife, terrifying the teen, who recalled screaming, “You’ll kill me! Get out!” Though he did not use the weapon against her, he issued repeated threats: to break her teeth, to kill her, and to burn her alive — blaming her for the physical confrontation he’d faced earlier with third parties.
Intervention and Arrest
The abuse ended only when the relative hosting them intervened, restrained the suspect, and personally took both young people to the Archangelos Police Station the following morning. He urged the teen to file a formal complaint.
She did so on the morning of June 21, 2026, at the Rhodes Domestic Violence Office. Later that same day, the 23-year-old suspect — an Albanian national residing permanently in Attica — was arrested by officers from the Archangelos Police Department.
Forensic Evidence and Charges
A forensic medical examination conducted the same day documented 10 separate physical injuries — a finding described as unusually severe. Prosecutors have filed charges against the suspect for repeated domestic physical assault and repeated domestic threats, under Greek law.
The couple, who had been dating for about five months, had arrived in Rhodes just days before the attack. The victim, of Bulgarian origin, was born and raised in Athens.
