A major investigation by the ELAS anti-corruption unit has been underway since Wednesday morning (19.03.2025) in Rhodes, following complaints against specific employees and officials, as per a prosecutorial order. The ELAS officers have entered the Urban Planning Department of Rhodes, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals so far, with investigations continuing. Their mobile phones have been seized, and communication is prohibited. Reports suggest the existence of a criminal organization involved in illegal activities related to urban planning regulations. According to ERT information, the prosecutorial investigation began a year ago and is being conducted on multiple levels. In this corruption case, ten public officials and private individuals are reportedly implicated. Prior to the ELAS operation, surveillance led to evidence of corruption within the service. Home searches are currently underway, and according to ‘Democratic’ sources, the Rhodian Special Prosecutor’s Office for Misconduct has been informed and will receive the relevant documentation for further action.
