Responsible for the diet for acne?

For many years scientists denied any correlation of acne with the diet, however in the last few years there is a growing evidence that support the scientific view that acne is a multifactorial skin problem.
It is certain that acne is the most common dermatological disease. Affects 90% of adolescents, but employs and several adults, who have either not got rid never from the pimples of puberty or experienced all of a sudden in the 30’s.
The mechanisms of creation of acne is not completely with clean air. In appearance, however, contribute to the inheritance, the disorder of keratinization, hormonal activity, and cosmetics. Also, the acne is aggravated due to the stress, climate, nutrition.
“Although none of the food has not been associated directly with the acne, the studies linking it with the western-style diet, which includes increased consumption of red meat rich in saturated fat, processed cereal products with a high glycemic index and dairy products high in fat,” says στοprotοthema.en the clinical διαιατολόγος – a nutritionist, mrs Konstantina Papageorgiou.
According to the expert, the acne is aggravated with the consumption of foods with a high glycemic index, dairy and red meat. As he explains, the foods of high glycemic index foods that rapidly increase the levels of sugar in the blood. These include: sweets, processed breakfast cereals, standard food-type cookies, pastries, bread, potatoes, sugar. Carbohydrates these are directly related to the appearance and aggravation of acne, because it “absorbed quickly by the body, resulting insulin levels to soar. In combination with the growth factor IGF-1 (in dairy) high levels of sugar cause an increase in sebum production,” says mr Papageorgiou.
Excessive consumption of dairy products seems not only aggravating, but can cause acne due to the high content of hormones and growth factors (IGF-1). “However we cannot overlook the fact that milk, yogurt and cheese are the main source of calcium and the basis of development during the adolescent age, which is why the consumption of 2-3 servings of semi-αποβουτυρωμένων of dairy per day did not worsen the damage and it covers a large percentage of their daily recommended amount of calcium” points out the nutritionist.
Also, some studies show that red meat promotes inflammation of the skin and promotes the production of sebum.
On the other hand, soothing and anti-inflammatory action against acne is credited to the foods that contain omega – 3 fatty acids. Generally, the fat quality of the diet plays a key role in this skin condition. Due to the fact that the acne most often coexists with inflammation, studies support that the consumption of omega-3 fatty acids which have anti-inflammatory properties significantly reduce the damage to the skin.
Mrs. Papageorgiou explains: “The particular fat are essential for the body as it does not combine them endogenously, so we have to get them from the diet through foods that are rich in these. Foods such as salmon, cod, mackerel, anchovy, sardines, flaxseed and green leafy vegetables have anti-inflammatory action. On the contrary, the so-called “bad” fats, i.e. saturated and trans, which are found mainly in red meat, fatty cheeses, fried foods, butter, sauces and pastries contribute to the onset of acne”.
