Regional Aegaleo: Two arrests for fighting – Drivers moved with 287km and hit a police car

Two “fast and furious” were arrested on Sunday (19/01/2025) at noon in as they raced with speeds reaching 287 km. The two drivers had set up skirmishes in Regional Egaleo and even when the police called them to check tried to avoid him with one driver hitting the patrol car. CORVERSE Specifically according to ELAS, the two drivers were located at the toll station on the above highway, moving at a speed of 287 and 254 km per hour, according to the speed meter. Police officers called them to check, however both speeded up at dizzying speed, with one driver impacting the patrol vehicle. A chase followed, with the two drivers acting dangerous maneuvers and trying to escape through adjacent local roads, but eventually the Police managed to mobilize them. CORVERSE At the expense of the self-defenced drivers, a case for dangerous driving in conjunction, an attempt at dangerous physical harm against a police officer, violence against employees and disobedience was formed. In addition, vehicles were seized, traffic data were removed for 310 days and driving licences for 480 days, administrative fines of EUR 5,902 and 133 points were imposed on them pursuant to the driver behaviour control system. As noted by the Police, to conduct the improvised race, other drivers parked their vehicles on that highway and landed from them to watch the upcoming race, interrupting traffic on one traffic stream. To identify the assembled drivers at the starting point of the race, the collection of research data is underway. “Attica Traffic Directorate remains vigilant with continuous operational actions to prevent dangerous driving behaviours” concludes the relevant communication.
