Record-Breaking Weather in Athens: Temperatures Soar to Near 30°C

Unusually high temperatures for this time of year are expected in Athens on Friday, March 14, 2025. From early morning, the city has already recorded temperatures close to 20°C, and by midday, they are anticipated to rise to around 24°C. Excluding the African dust, the weather remains enjoyable. It’s rather warm and clear across the country. According to the National Observatory of Athens, temperatures ranging from 24°C to 26°C in Athens are historically high for this period, potentially surpassing previous records. The current March records stand at 25°C for the Athens-Gazi station (March 31, 2009), 25.2°C for Ambelokipoi (March 26, 2023), and 26.1°C for Patissia (March 14, 2020). These statistics have been maintained since 2008. Across Attica, a generally clear sky with occasional clouds is forecasted. Winds will be southerly with speeds up to 2-3 Beaufort. In Thessaloniki, intermittent clouds are expected, with winds blowing from southern directions at similar speeds. Temperatures will vary between 13°C to 23°C. On islands like the Northern Aegean, temperatures will range from 9°C to 21°C, while in other Aegean islands and Crete, they could reach up to 27-28°C.
