Recep Tayyip Erdogan: Turkey received the 1st German-tech submarine – “We defend the Blue Home with a strong navy”

The first German technology, Reis class officially joined Turkey’s fleet at the ceremony held at Akshaz naval base, by stressing that Ankara is strengthening its navy to support the Blue Country. At an event by the Turkish Navy, which took place on Saturday (24.08.2024) at the Akshaz naval base of Marmaris, President Recep Tayyyip Erdogan announced that a new submarine “Type 214” was joined in the Turkish shipyard with know-how and cooperation from German Thyssenkrupp, the PİRİREİS. At the same time, it was also mentioned in the second submarine of the Turkish Navy, HİZİRREİS, which is expected to start testing. According to the original design, the Turkish submarine program was to be completed in 2027. He also referred to the third submarine MURATRİS which was launched, while stressing that by 2029 the Turkish Navy will have six new submarines. “We are a country surrounded on its three sides by seas, with the eyes of the whole world on us. We are at the center of a geography that has been a theatre of world power struggles for centuries. We are a nation that owes its thousand-year existence to these lands in the holy blood and sacrifices of its witnesses. We know that in order to live peacefully in our territories, we must have a strong and effective navy in both our Blue Country and distant geographical areas. With this understanding, we have been trying to strengthen the Turkish Armed Forces in every area since 2002 under the slogan “Strong Turkey, Strong Army”, said the Turkish President. And he added: “As is the case here today, our friends are watching Turkey’s steps with envy, our brothers with gratitude and support and our opponents with fear. The backbone of our goal to strengthen our army is our efforts to increase the ability and deter our navy. We have mobilised all our resources to supply all kinds of platforms and systems needed by our Naval Forces. With every ship whose work is completed, construction starts, is modernised or delivered, we bring our navy a step closer to the level we aim,” Erdogan said elsewhere.
