Rearrangement on the Horizon: Kerameos to Economy, Voridis or Papastavrou to Environment, and Pleuris to Labor

This week, starting from today (March 10, 2025), marks a pivotal moment in Greece’s political landscape. According to reliable sources, the blueprint for the new government structure is almost finalized, with only minor details awaiting Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s approval before an official announcement expected this Friday. Today, Mitsotakis will visit President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou for the final time, thanking her for her tenure. Following the swearing-in of the new President, Kostas Tasoulas, in Parliament on Thursday, the stage will be set for the reshuffle.

The prime minister plans extensive changes rather than mere adjustments, as seen previously. Niki Kerameos is set to take over the critical Ministry of Finance after current minister Kostis Hatzidakis moves to the office of the Deputy Prime Minister to strengthen the executive team. This would make Kerameos the first woman to lead the national economy portfolio.

Makis Voridis, currently Minister of Interior, is rumored to shift to a crucial ministry, possibly Environment and Energy, where Theodoros Skylakakis has requested leave due to personal reasons. Alternatively, Stavros Papastathis may return to this role, while Thanos Pleuris could replace Kerameos at the Ministry of Labor.

Other notable shifts include potential changes at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport following the Tempi scandal, with Konstantinos Kiranakis likely becoming Deputy Minister of Transport. Key figures like Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias, Defense Minister Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, and others are expected to remain in their roles. Speculation continues regarding other appointments and departures.
