For this reason organise an open meeting tomorrow at 8 in the evening at the cafe “Gardenâ€, calling on all citizens, in order to discuss the way to react to them.
In a notice issued a report: “The assignment of the airport, “Daskalogiannis” and of the remaining 13 regional airports in the country is not a simple political act which harms the public interest act, which allocates and delivers the entry gates and the flagship of the Greek economy, which is tourism, to the Germans.
The assignment of regional airports was one of the so-called prerequisites that set and puts the German guardianship in order to gain full control of the Greek economy. It should be noted that already, the Germans control most of the movement of tourists to Greece through the tour operator TUI and the “national” private airline is a regional arm of the also German company Lufthansa, which is a shareholder in Fraport therefore, the consortium Fraport-Copelouzos to which are assigned the 14 regional airports for the next 50 years.
The state will pay even more because of the bank debt of eur 7.5 billion that has the hospitality sector a large part of which will be assigned to foreign funds as long as the red loans of this industry is 2.5 billion, while the arrears of 3 billion extra.
Therefore the issue of allocation of the airport “Daskalogiannis” of Chania and of the other as well as other portals of entry are the ports associated with the assignment, on the substance, of public property and of the Greek economy. At the same time, however, the citizens of Western Crete will be affected directly by the increase in airport charges which will increase the prices of air tickets. According to data of the workers at the airports, the increase of taxes will reach in the long term from 12 to 26,5 E per route.
Such a possibility will affect the local economy which, to a large extent, is based on hundreds of thousands of tourists carrying the low-cost airlines, while the employment relationships of the employees at the airport will deteriorate rapidly as shown by the contract which was published.
Our initiative, which is “action of citizens†invites you to a meeting of all operators in the West of Crete in order to organize and prevent the capture of the Airport “Daskalogiannis†of the Germans, the Fraport. We note that the Airport and the name you bring symbolizes the struggles and the revolutionary tradition of freedom and national independence.
We consider a formal concession contract null and void if the Fraport hasn’t even paid a single euro to the Greek state. We are fighting to remain in the Airport, “Daskalogiannis” asset of the Greek state and the Greek people reality that is waived by the agreement of the current and previous governments. We do not recognize any new “regime” of ownership or operation of the Airport.
We support the remedies in the European Courts for annulment of the “agreement of sale” without limiting our action to it. We consider unwanted in our country, the German Fraport-Copelouzos.
We call on the institutions of the city and every citizen in the open meeting that will be held in the Cafe “Garden” on Friday 13 January 2017 at 20.00 in order to propose and organize actions that will prevent the delivery of the airport “Daskalogiannis””.
