Russian President Vladimir Putin stated today (14/03/2025) that Russia would guarantee the safety of Ukrainian soldiers located in the Kursk region if they surrender. Speaking at the Russian Security Council, Putin emphasized that Ukrainian authorities must order the troops in Kursk to lay down their arms. Earlier, Donald Trump mentioned in a post about communications between the U.S. and Putin that there is a ‘very good possibility’ the war could end. Trump noted that thousands of Ukrainian troops are ‘surrounded’ by the Russian army, describing their position as ‘very bad and vulnerable.’ He revealed that he urged Putin ‘to save their lives,’ adding that such a massacre ‘hasn’t been seen since World War II.’ Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that any ceasefire with Russia could be monitored with drones and satellites, aided by the U.S., requiring full air defense coverage as a precautionary measure in any potential peace agreement. Zelenskyy admitted the situation in Kursk is ‘very difficult’ for Ukrainian soldiers holding a small part of this Russian region but assured that the army ‘achieved its objectives’ in this operation.
