Putin Announces Increased Production of Oreshnik Hypersonic Missiles

Russia is significantly increasing the production of Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missiles, announced Vladimir Putin on June 23, 2025. These missiles were used against Ukraine in November 2024. Last year, Putin stated that Moscow could develop these systems in neighboring Belarus by the second half of 2025. “The serial production of the mid-range missile system type Oreshnik is underway,” Putin declared to military graduates, emphasizing its proven value in combat conditions. Additionally, the Russian president warned that the involvement of forces outside the Middle East in the conflict with Iran poses a significant global risk. Earlier, Putin met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Moscow, condemning U.S. bombings against Iran and stating that Moscow aims to assist the Iranian people.
