PULS: Countdown to Armed Forces for Israel’s supply of missile systems

The Armed Forces count vice versa for the acquisition of the Multiple PULS-type Launched Missiles manufactured by Israel, as the relevant supply agreement is expected to be announced in the coming weeks by the civil leadership of the Ministry of National Defence. Israel’s missile systems will probably be the first weapon system for which the procedures will “run” directly in the Armed Forces, in order to sign the relevant contract within 2025 and even until summer. CORVERSE The military staff weighted all parameters, both with operational and economic criteria and resulted in its final recommendation to the political leadership. The number of systems to be acquired is at least 38, with the cost of around half a billion euros with a small margin of up to 700 million depending on the final number and ammunition loads. Their equipment The range of ammunition, which can be used by the PULS, continuous and long-term support and the ability to engage the domestic defence industry are the biggest advantages of the ‘made in Israel’ systems. The maximum range of Predator Hawks that reaches 300 km turns the PULS (Precise & Universal Launching System) into a highly deterrent weapon system, while the design also includes the acquisition of missiles: type Extra with a range of up to 150 km of Accular 122 mm with a range of up to 35 km and type Accular 160 mm with a range of up to 40 km. The agreement is expected to include the acquisition of the Sky Striker-type drones, with a range of up to 100 km, autonomy one hour and ability to return if it does not identify and strike a target either on the ground or at sea level. PULS systems are expected to be delivered to Artillery and developed into first-line units, both in Evros and all major islands of the Eastern Aegean. Their characteristics PULS systems include in addition to launchers and Command Artilleries, ammunition (missile charges), but also training and maintenance-supporting systems. At the same time, the relevant contract, as provided for in the legislation, will include the subsequent support agreement, the known ‘Follow On Support’ providing for support for weapons systems for at least 10 years. Elbit Systems’ PULS has as its main advantage the high firing speed, which touches one minute. and is a development of the oldest Lynx MRL with upgraded software and much better features in all sectors. It is quickly transported by wheeled vehicles which can move even on difficult ground. As already reported in Onalert.gr, the GSC has selected trucks of IVECO. The military staff, having examined all parameters by both operational and economic criteria, rejected the proposal to modernise the US-made multi-missile MLS M270A0 rocket launchers. This is the programme, which had been approved by the competent committee of the House at the end of 2023, but did not proceed after the decision to review all equipment programmes based on new operational needs and new financial data. Multiple PULS-type Missile Launchers are used with impressive results from the Israeli Army (IDF), already exported to Denmark, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Rwanda, while orders from Germany, the Netherlands and Spain are underway.
