Professor of Medicine and Doctor at PAGNI, arrested for human trafficking in Chania

Shocking was for hundreds of women in the involvement of a gynecologist in the human trafficking case, the continuation of the one with the surrogates and the private assisted breeding clinic in Chania. PAGNI’s gynecologist was arrested in Crete and specifically in Heraklion and even in his time of work and under extreme discretion he was taken at noon on Monday (20.01.2025) to the Protodika prosecution in Chania, asking and receiving a deadline to apologize on Wednesday (22.01.2025), while until then he remains in custody. A further 46 – year – old gynecologist, who also received a deadline for Wednesday, was arrested. It is the ninth arrested of the night of 12 August 2023 (when the alleged circuit was revealed with the surrogates), but it never appeared to the interrogator, as he was released the following morning. Both, the investigation of organised crime that has been transmitted since last October to the District Attorney’s Office for Primary Laws has revealed the immediate synergy of this gynecologist in all the acts under consideration. The second case-file that takes the path of the main interrogation precisely at the end of the 18-month temporary detention of the owner and the clinic’s fetalist concerns: ADVERSE * 529 cases of virtual embryo transfers * 75 cases of theft and illegal trafficking of genetic material * Profits exceeding EUR 8.5 million. In fact, on two occasions, the creation of embryos from the same woman’s eggs and semen of the same man, with this identified genetic material, was verified, distributed to two different couples. 16 people are still accused of the same case, including the two chief members of the organization, who were arrested under the dislocation operation (08-09-2023) and are already temporarily detained in detention stores. At the same time, a case was found where members of the organization proposed to a couple mixing genetic material and in particular transfer of embryos with genetic material of the pair and with donor genetic material during the same embryo transfer cycle, resulting in ignorance of the biological identity of the child born.
