Prince Pavlos of Greece paid heartfelt tribute to King Harald V of Norway following the monarch’s death at the age of 89. In an Instagram post, the Greek royal described the late king as his beloved uncle and highlighted the deep, multi-generational ties between the Greek and Norwegian royal families.

Pavlos recalled the close friendship between his grandfather, King Paul of Greece, and King Harald’s father, King Olav V of Norway. He also emphasized the strong bond shared by his father, former King Constantine II of Greece, and King Harald — rooted in their mutual passion for the sea and sailing. These enduring connections, he noted, have continued to unite both families across generations.
“With profound sorrow, I learned of the loss of my beloved uncle, King Harald V,” Pavlos wrote. “My thoughts and prayers are with Queen Sonja, the new King of Norway, Haakon VII, and the entire Norwegian Royal Family during this deeply painful time.”

The prince praised King Harald’s lifelong dedication to Norway and its people — a reign marked by dignity, warmth, and unwavering duty. He described him as a deeply cherished monarch and a man of great kindness, integrity, and humanity.
